The Central Questions of the Conference
- How can we live and act in radical solidarity?
- How can we do this beyond the state, identity, and hierarchy?
- How do we build new sociopolitical relationships?
- How do we strengthen existing relationships that transcend domination?
We want to explore these and other questions—everyone is invited to raise new questions and contribute—together, on equal footing, while drawing on the perspectives and expertise of a wide variety of people.
With Peter Seyfert, Birge Krondorfer, Mia Neuhaus, Irene Tazi-Preve, Lucas Mielke, Bernd Drücke, and many other wonderful thinkers and activists, the intellectual lineup is outstanding.
We have designed the conference to be very comprehensive because it is worth getting to the bottom of the concept and significance of radical solidarity. The presentations span the spectrum from Kropotkin to Hannah Arendt, ranging from conceptual frameworks to concrete manifestations and the challenges they present. The workshops will address, among other topics, alliances and solidarity, visions of radical connectedness, and practices of resistance. In addition, there will be a cultural program, because human beings are more than just their brains.
Background of the Conference
The first conference explored anarchist visions of society and examined which concepts are suitable for a more just, democratic, and non-hierarchical society. The conference proceedings, titled “Anarchist Visions of Society,” were published in 2023.
The second conference was dedicated to the transformation toward a (more) socially and ecologically just future and explored ways to bring about such societies. Our anthology “Anarchist New Beginnings: Social Transformations Toward a (More) Non-Hierarchical World” will be published in the fall of 2026.
“United in Radical Solidarity: Our Response to Domination and Hierarchy” continues the series on anarchist responses. To reflect collectively on the diversity of approaches to radical solidarity, we aim to bring together perspectives and actors from academia, practice, and civil society.
