What would it take to establish a truly free and anti-colonial people's university across national borders?
One that not only circulates theoretical knowledge accumulated within our movements, but also shares practical and technical knowledge applicable in settings with constrained resources, bridging the Global North and Global South. We are trying to create a university as a network of working groups where we do not simply produce knowledge but work together to change concrete situations on the ground. Nika Dubrovsky and Barış Eser will discuss efforts the David Graeber Institute has undertaken toward this goal, such as the revived network of alumni from the Patrice Lumumba University in the USSR, an institution that in its time built academic and technical networks across the colonial world and the Eastern Bloc. We will also discuss some of the existing collectives we have met who might become part of this network, such as workers' cooperatives in Sri Lanka and anarchist study groups in Brazil.
In the second part of the session, we will lead a hands-on workshop aimed at collectively building this network with the conference participants, gathering their initiatives and exploring how each of us can contribute to and become part of this network of collective thinking and practice.
