What’s it all about?
In the podcast “fair&sozial?! – Social Work Organizes!” we explore the question of how social work professionals can organize politically and work together to advocate for better conditions. The social sector is under increasing pressure: austerity measures, precarious working conditions, job cuts, and facility closures are occurring alongside growing social needs. At the same time, social inequality and far-right extremism are on the rise. For many professionals, this means increasing stress, isolation, and resignation. Yet crises can also be an opportunity for solidarity and collective resistance. How can social workers transform their individual experiences into collective agency? What role do political self-organization, unions, social movements, and alliances play in this? And how can organizing, public outreach, and digital spaces help spark change? This session provides insight into approaches to collective organizing and combines theoretical perspectives with experiences from the podcast project “fair&sozial?!”. Together, we’ll focus on how social work can go beyond the individual level to help shape social change and put radical solidarity into practice .
Aim of This Session
We want to inspire enthusiasm for political self-organization and cross-union engagement in social work! We’ll share current examples of collective resistance in social work to encourage participants and show just how diverse and creative protest can be. We invite you to join us for a collegial exchange.
